Curtis Joseph’s style of goaltending has been referred to as acrobatic because of his unpredictable
ability to make saves; a leg save one time, an arm save the next, followed by a glove save. According
to Joseph it is all a matter of balance but his style keeps his opponents guessing and Cujo keeps
the puck out of the net. His goaltending ability allows his teammates to take on a more aggressive
style of play, which makes for a more exciting game of hockey. Joseph plays with a lot of heart
and confidence, which rubs off on his teammates.
Curtis Joseph began his career with the St. Louis Blues in 1989 where he played 6 seasons, making
two playoff appearances. He then went to the rebuilding Edmonton Oilers, where he led the team
to the post season playoffs twice and achieved his 200th career victory in February of 1998. With
the Toronto Maple Leafs, Cujo became one of the most popular players of all time, winning 133
regular season games and leading the team to four consecutive playoff charges. Now, he’s seeking his
first Stanley Cup as a vital member of the Detroit Red Wings.
Below the Limited Edition print are four photos of Curtis Joseph spanning his career.
